What I liked

-The story arc (ended really strong too)
-Felt like I really was a fly on the wall in someone’s home
-The mom!
-The back-and-forth interaction Justin had with the voice actress for the mom
-Costume changes
-The interpreter was so good! He was able to keep up with the pace of the play, and never lose the meaning of things during dialogue (e.g. innuendos).

What I didn't like

They could have lingered on some emotions a bit longer. For example, just as I was starting to well up with tears at the bath scene, it ended.

I am hoping to see this again as a full-length play or even a feature-length film. Please, please, please! Where do I sign the petition to make it happen?

My overall impression

I am a CODA and I strongly believe that one of our greatest gifts our Deaf parents give us is the ability to tell our story in our mother tongue (hand…?), alongside the spoken language(s) we use out in the hearing world.

This play was a perfect example of bridging two worlds, two cultures, and two languages. This is what it feels like to be sandwiched in the middle of two worlds—almost like an alternate universe.

The performers and crew did well working with such a challenging space. Costume changes worked well. Music was awesome, and inclusive/accessible.

This is labeled as a comedy… yes you will laugh a lot, but you will also cry, and give a one-finger salute in anger.
