as a fan of “punk”, the story, music, and experiences resonated with me. the actors’ performances were emotionally engaging and the stark stage design paired with the well placed and thoughtful live score were perfectly matched. the video experiences injected exclamation points at just the right moments.
What I didn't like
justin did a ton. it might have been interesting to see age progressions happen through the performance of multiple actors, with justin serving as the narrator and “present day”. it even might have been cool to see a live performance re-enactment of one of his bands!
My overall impression
i loved it! it was a glimpse into the lives of CODAs and the hearing impaired, their navigation through life, and the human experiences we all share regardless of the particular struggles unique to our lives.
