With just a few simple costume changes and well-edited video segments, Falling on Deaf Eyes did an amazing job of transporting the audience back in time. The play was both illuminating and unique to the writer/performer’s experience growing up as a CODA (child of a deaf adult), and at the same time powerfully relatable for anyone who grew up in a fractured family.
What I didn't like
I saw the play on preview night, so they are still sorting a few things out, but I have confidence they will get there. Secure the box, so no one gets hurt.
My overall impression
This is a beautiful show – funny, raw and moving. It was written and performed with equal parts heart and righteous teenage angst.
