There was a keen sense of fun and irony in the dialogue between Elder P and ‘God’ – the multi-media screen behind him that displayed images and quotes as retorts to whatever Elder P was saying. Tech timing was perfect and even the construction next door didn’t take the actor off his focus.
What I didn't like
At times, reading from journal entries as a narrative device seemed to take us out of the moment. I wanted to engage more with Elder P directly or see him interact with Angela more.
My overall impression
A heart-wrenching tale of unrequited love and the faith that drove the two lovers apart. A man deeply processing his life choices tells this story with authentic vulnerability and an open heart.
