The simple staging is perfect – you’re watching a debate – what else would it be? Jim Hanna is a force as the acting mayor, getting a broad range of emotions from which to play, while always grounding it in the humor that is what stands out most about this piece. Kaye Hellen and Lucie Beeby are so unique in their characters and never miss a bit – and when the three of them are going at one another, it’s a thing of beauty. The ‘twist’ of the show is something I never saw coming, but was quite welcomed.
What I didn't like
I wanted more. I could have handled another 15-minutes.
My overall impression
A fast-paced, engaging, non-stop laugh fest that goes in some dark, unexpected places and winds up having more weight than I ever expected.
