There was a subtle humor in the writing that helped balance the intensity of the subject matter. The writing powerfully addressed the complexities of colorism, racism, and different approaches of activism to portray the environment in 1964 as well as the environment today. Both actors did a great job at portraying their respective roles and embodying the nuances of very distinct individuals. All of that tied in with symbolism that perfectly reflected the progression of the perspective and attitudes of the characters. ... full review

Brilliantly written. A period piece that applies today. The NAIL = RACISM It bothered both Harry & Sidney. Sidney (a dark-skinned black man) feels it the moment he wakes. Harry (a light-skinned black man) is grazed by it, the moment he swaggers into a room. They both recognize its existence. Harry wants to get rid of it. Sidney is ok with trying to ignore problem, he even covers it up. Once acknowledging the nail is everyone problem. This is a really great show. Thematically, it is poignant and relevant to issues facing Black people today. The show takes place in 1964 during the Civil Rights Movement and the characters argue over the correct approach to effect change. Listening to them discuss what is happening at that time really makes you realize how little has changed in America since then. Things have changed in many ways, yes, but in so many other ways they really haven't at all. What is the best way to go about fighting for your cause? This show presents both sides of the argument and really makes you feel for each person's side.... full review
