This story is really adorable and I mean that in the best way. The production got me interested in reading the original fanfiction it was adapted from - actually, just before writing this review, I downloaded the pdf off Ao3 for later reading. That's pretty freaking cool. However, I think the material needed to be more heavily adapted to better suit a ninety-minute theatre piece.... full review

It was well paced, funny, well acted, and moving! I didn't expect to be so emotional but I cried several times. It was wonderful and so sweet and the type of queer narrative I wish there was more of. ... full review

Sweet, funny, and absolutely delightful. Under the Table and Dreaming is an extremely entertaining story that has you both feeling for the characters, and laughing alongside them. With wonderful writing (from both the original fanfiction and Le's adaptation), and perfect cast, and a plot that's both simple and compelling, this show was destined to be a hit from its very conception. I can't recommend this show enough. Particularly if you're part of the LGBTQ community, and have always yearned to see representation from the characters you love, I can't recommend this show enough.... full review

This was a delightful ride, touching at times, funny at times - and as someone who has never read any fan fiction, I loved the idea of watching two characters that I've only known as kids grow old together.... full review

A refreshing break from all the shows that scream 'FRINGE,' "Under the Table and Dreaming" is an earnest, nostalgic look at the "what ifs" in life that we all face at one point or another and takes us on a tailspin adventure diving deeper into the meaning of the "what ifs" as the show progresses.... full review

It was the simplicity of Under the Table and Dreaming that struck me. Although the story primarily revolved around Andy and Sid, it was really brought to life by the profound relationships built between each character. I found myself especially moved by how it showed all the places where love grows: between a mother and a son, brother and a sister, a father and a daughter; between resolutely dramatic friends and unlikely ones; and between two men, impossibly different, still healing together. ... full review

In Under the Table and Dreaming, Lanchi Le makes her writing and directing debut with a story by Holly Hark about Andy and Sid, the human kids from Toy Story. But this is no sequel to the Pixar franchise. The show tells the what-if story of Andy and Sid becoming friends, discovering their attraction to one another, and ultimately having a long, rocky relationship in the adult world.
