What I liked

The cast. From top to bottom, these actors deliver distinct and highly entertaining characters. Having your lead be the standout is always a good thing, and James Everts IS the standout of this piece, bring an adorable, dorky swagger to “Kevin”. Other standouts include Frankie Zabilka, Melvin Villajin Biteng, and Allie Costa. The staging was simple and effective. The vocals were on point. The audience was smiling from beginning to end.

What I didn't like

Some sound issues mired the production a bit, but the team rose above it – and, it’s a preview, so that’s what they’re for. While I didn’t leave the theatre humming any of the music, I certainly left feeling the energy the cast imparted.

My overall impression

Such a fun and energetic start to my 2019 Fringe experience. “The Bully Problem” has so much spunk and so many good intentions, it’s easy to overlook its few shortcomings.
