Lindsey Mallard is an extremely gifted performer, able to jump between a no nonsense, apple crunching administrator to a bro at the movie theater bummed about Milk Duds without missing a beat. Every character had true, lived in understanding behind them, and a thick coat of silly absurdity on top. When she directly addressed the audience, first in a fierce a capella song, then in a touching tribute to her family, she blew us away.
What I didn't like
There were a few characters I wanted to see again, and the only transition music should be Mambo No. 5.
My overall impression
A hilarious and touching portrait of all the characters, casual bigotry, and surprising poignancy you might find in Missouri.
