About the Project

After returning home to his small town from a year in Los Angeles unsuccessfully chasing down a dream of making it as a musician, Owen is given the news that his long time on and off girlfriend is moving away and ending their relationship. In spite of this Owen decides to continue his dream of being a musician. Penny and her best friend Jordan drive away to Portland and along the way, Jordan reminds Penny that everyone does their best to let go of the past and move on to moving on.
At his first concert back in his hometown, Owen meets Morgan, an up and coming political speechwriter between jobs. After a missed meeting, Owen
becomes enamored with Morgan and hopes to know everything about her, all the way down to her favorite color. Taylor, Joey, and Lacey look on as Owen and Morgan hit off. They argue among themselves if this a good idea. Owen tells Morgan how excited he is they met and Morgan doesn’t want him to get ahead of himself. After a couple months have passed, Penny learns she is pregnant with Owen’s baby from a previous meet up before the story began. Penny is terrified of the idea of going back to town to tell Owen of the news.
After sharing a new song to Morgan, Owen is found out to still have feelings for Penny which brings up Morgan’s own insecurities about relationships now that she is starting to have strong feelings for Owen. This fight reveals to Owen and Morgan that they each need to let go of the past if they want to be happy. At the end of the first act, Penny returns home to share the news of the baby, to which leaves Morgan to ask Owen who Penny is and why she never came up in all the time that has passed.
At the top of the second act, Owen is faced with two women who are expecting him to make a choice. Everyone around the Owen and Penny situation take
sides and give their own two cents about what they should do. Everyone in the story if affected by the impending baby and now that the deed is done, everyone understands there is no turning back. With everything that has transpired, Owen learns that he must let go of everything he has feared in the past and become everything that is needed by his child.
Penny and Jordan decide to go back to Portland as Owen does not show interest in getting back together with Penny. Morgan understands all is fair in love and war and reconciles with Owen. Owen is forced to go back to Penny when she goes into labor and Owen truly learns the meaning a choice in life.
In the finale, everyone meets at a bon-fire sometime later. They understand no matter what happens, bonds of the past will carry on, but don’t dictate the future.
