This show is So. Well. Cast. Allie Leonard’s grounded humor keeps us genuinely rooted in the reality of “but seriously, what if this actually happen??” Kinard’s writing and Tim Kopacz performance finds every nuance in Lincoln’s transported psyche- child-like/cranky geezer/deeply displaced/unwaveringly moral/outdatedly ashamed. I could turn this section into a book on each and every one of these performers.

My overall impression
Lincoln 2020 is a wildly entertaining piece of poignant theatre. The structure does lend itself more to film than stage but usually that results in losing our attention or taking us out of the piece- and I was all in for the entire ride! Holiday Kinard peppers in these wonderful little moments that give us worlds of backstory in a single sentence, elevating this outrageous comedy to something unexpectedly heartfelt.
