What I liked

The writing is very strong. We have seen these characters before, but DePriester injects just the right amount of absurdity to make the family drama fresh.

Everyone excelled in their roles. Dave Crossland is perfectly cast in the role of the delusional father, which he embodies with nonchalant menace. Dalia Vosylius gives a subtle turn as the long-suffering spouse, communicating decades of repression in a mere glance. Colby Rummell’s absent-eyed take on the son is spot-on, and Emma Center deserves special mention for a nuanced, utterly true-to-life performance as the daughter that helps the show reach truly tragic depths. Also, Ra Hanna gives a memorable turn as the neighbor, bringing depth and dignity to a relatively small role.

What I didn't like

Let’s see… I can’t think of any critiques that are really substantive. This is an impressive production.

My overall impression

DePriester has written a taut, classically structured decline of a family that takes off from a seemingly absurd premise and dives straight into the dark heart of our current political moment. The play is unabashedly political while remaining grounded in all-too-believable characters. Excellent acting all around – highly recommend!
