Angela Davis is and has always been an advocate for the dismantling of the Prison Industrial Complex and addresses the intesectionality of differect groups in our society that are often the greatest contributors but most overlooked. In a digital age where police brutality is regularly caught on cameraphones, Angela’s words and sentiments, both past and present speak to the reality of ordinary and good citizens who just want to live their lives in peace, without the threat of them being taken away. My peace will deal with issues of past which are still those of the present through her lens and look not only at the way racisim affects us all, but how gender diversity and sexism are at the forefront of what need not only to be discussed, but looked at from the perspective of those carrying the weight and paying the price of society’s closed doors and ignorance.
