What I liked

The show is consistently entertaining and often hysterical in its spot-on rendering of the archetypical low-end thespian who thinks they’re the center of the universe. The best parts of the show revolve around the lockhorn struggle between the scatterbrained and self-aggrandizing Travis and his world-weary stage manager who gives the advice his client needs but doesn’t want. There’s an attention to detail (including a hysterically bad “in character” show program) that belies a certain real-world experience and perhaps gentle self-parody on the part of author/performer Ritchie. Finally I loved the moments of sincerity which elevated this show above being entirely mockery-driven.

What I didn't like

The excerpts from Travis’ solo schtick, though amusing, aren’t up to the calibre of humor of the “man versus stage manager” moments of the show. Other than when they’re necessary for the overall arc, these moments are better glimpsed than performed in full.

My overall impression

A wickedly clever satire of the narcissistic world of solo shows, smoothed over with just the right amount of sincerity.
