What I liked

Swiped was co-written and tightly directed by Carly Panda with piano accompaniment by Michael Armstrong. Even though it was a solo show, Alena occasionally morphed into other characters. Her devil-may-care, flute playing grandmother pranced around at one point, giving less than sage advice, robe flapping in the breeze. The musical pieces were delightful, and Alena’s amazing vocals soared, swooped, and never faltered.

What I didn't like

I hope Alena and Carly continue to expand this piece. I left the theater wanting more.

My overall impression

Looking for love in the internet age is something we can all relate to, and Alena Bernardi as Polly hits the high notes and the low notes of this journey, both vocally and thematically. Her classically trained voice sounds Broadway bound, and her boundless enthusiasm is inspirational.
