Blue Signs is a just-about-thoroughly true story of a young man and his elderly landlord. Set in Long Beach, the story spans what became a fifteen-year friendship between the two men. The stories within the play combine questions of ethics, diverse spiritual and philosophical matters, health, anxieties, and a senior citizen’s uncommon and constant acts of community service and neighborhood humanitarianism.
Part love-letter to the greater Los Angeles area of the late 20th century and early 2000’s, and partly hewn by the wishes, joys, aggravations, and losses so often encountered in any Southern California life, this play seeks to tell a story of how everyday interactions can become extraordinary.
