Bob’s enthusiasm sharing his experiences was enjoyable, and I loved the pictures from his youth. I found his Navy experiences fascinating, and really liked how he talked about finding a way to support indy artists/music via his indy journalism and awards he created to highlight/benefit others. The hat motif was great, but criminally underused.
What I didn't like
This is not a story, and it should be. Bob has several elements in his show that can serve as a frame for an actual story rather than a series of anecdotes (both general and celebrity encounter). If he can find the right director and/or story developer to help him tease out and shape the core of the work, this show could be very good.
Also, I know it was a first-time effort, but long pauses to review notes was…not a good look. (It was oddly adoreable, tho.) I think that comes down to not having a firm story developed or direction. Fix that, you fix the rest.
My overall impression
An entertaining series of anecdotes by a man who is living a much broader life than most, recreating himself as time and circumstance require. It’s very much a work in progress by a first time performer, and a good first draft/solid effort.
