This was a very powerful show that took me on an emotional journey I could never have expected. The different stages of the aftermath of rape are so intensely explored and expressed, I was left speechless. Masterful writing, acting and overall communication. An experience which is naturally impossible to relate to if one has never gone through it, finds in this show a truthful illustration, which I don’t believe has been achieved by many.... full review

The simplicity of the stage and the heartbreaking realism of what was portrayed had me feeling like I was somehow in on the heinous act and made me sick to my stomach. Em Hoggett gives us a performance that reminds anyone viewing it that the human condition is endlessly fascinating and just how important speaking up is.... full review

What I Want to Say to You is a unique take on one woman's experience with sexual assault. I found it interesting that Em - a singer/songwriter - chose to use her music as the soundtrack to an emotionally charged dance piece, rather than create a musical out of it. As a dancer, I appreciated this because I felt that she was able to physically dive into the emotion of it and let it take over, in a way that she might not be able to if she was required to sing. WIWTSTY is a beautifully haunting piece that strikes deep into the gut and stays with you long after you leave the theatre.... full review

"What I Want To Say To You," was a powerful and well-acted performance piece. It explores an area of sexual assault that unfortunately is not often addressed in the after-effects that survivors have to face. Both actors were impressive in their roles and the narrative is easy to follow despite the lack of dialogue. The music complimented the performance on stage extremely well and added to the performance's message. It is an undeniably tough subject to experience, but I highly recommend this performance!... full review

Powerful theatre experience. I saw the show with my wife and teenaged daughter. The show communicates all the stages of crisis and is well articulated through a mix of different dance styles including wardrobe changes communicating her emotional journey. So many elements of this play were just so lovely to watch. Even without words I was totally invested into her emotional devastation. The music worked so well with the visuals as well.. I would also like to mention that the casting and costuming of the Villain was brilliant. It's impressive how you can tell such a haunting story without dialogue. ... full review

Em reminds us of the importance of live theatre, in her production of "What I Want to Say to You". The passion of her voice ripples through the humble theatre vibrating the hearts and ears of the audience. A fire that can only be captured in a moment of truth. A moment that left an uncomfortable audience with a vivid audible imprint. It was the battle cry of a rape survivor. A survivor that was able to share her story despite the obstacles around her. Grief is meant to reveal someones character, and Em showed us that the fire inside her could be greater than the fire around, regardless of the helplessness that one can feel at times. A big thanks to Em and Umar for this production, for revealing the side of the victims, those who have been... full review
