A powerful (unfortunately) true tale, told in deeply emotional song & dance. Symbolic yet intensely direct.... full review

This was a very powerful show that took me on an emotional journey I could never have expected. The different stages of the aftermath of rape are so intensely explored and expressed, I was left speechless. Masterful writing, acting and overall communication. An experience which is naturally impossible to relate to if one has never gone through it, finds in this show a truthful illustration, which I don’t believe has been achieved by many.... full review

The simplicity of the stage and the heartbreaking realism of what was portrayed had me feeling like I was somehow in on the heinous act and made me sick to my stomach. Em Hoggett gives us a performance that reminds anyone viewing it that the human condition is endlessly fascinating and just how important speaking up is.... full review

An incredible piece of art from actress/vocalist/songwriter Em Hoggett. “What I Want to Say to You “ features Em’s haunting songs from her upcoming LP with choreography chronicling the emotional and psychological pain after sexual assault. The song about thinking things will never get better also resonates for those who struggle with depression: the pain is so deep and seemingly incurable that, like Robin Williams, Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain, you do the only thing you think will stop it. Thank you for bravely sharing your experience through your art, Em, and showing strength. I know your music and your stage work willl help others.... full review

What I Want to Say to You is a unique take on one woman's experience with sexual assault. I found it interesting that Em - a singer/songwriter - chose to use her music as the soundtrack to an emotionally charged dance piece, rather than create a musical out of it. As a dancer, I appreciated this because I felt that she was able to physically dive into the emotion of it and let it take over, in a way that she might not be able to if she was required to sing. WIWTSTY is a beautifully haunting piece that strikes deep into the gut and stays with you long after you leave the theatre.... full review
