Inventive and simple staging means the show never lags, the light design is a work of genius, and Burt does a tremendous job selling the separate natures of good and evil in Jekyll and Hyde with every step, breath, and line. But Anna Stromberg shines as… well, literally everyone else. With separate voices, accents, gaits, movements, and costume pieces to signify each character, she truly sells the transformations—and the jokes poking fun at the many roles she plays as well.
What I didn't like
I don’t know that there’s anything I’d change, but I’m sure for some people this show won’t “land” for them. It’s an inventive and unique take on an intensely dark story, but the comedic aspect may put off more devout Stevenson fans.
My overall impression
The gumption it takes to mount Jekyll and Hyde as a two-person show is off the charts, but Burt and Anna NAIL IT.
