What I liked

Writing, acting (tempo and delivery of punchlines get special mention), props, special effects—pretty much every moment was entertaining and more than worth the price of admission.

What I didn't like

Mics! Mics are close to a necessity for musicals, even in a small venue. Deeper voices get distorted acoustically more quickly than higher notes unassisted, so the mens’ part was much harder to hear from the back row. I understand that it’s difficult from a budgetary and logistical standpoint, but I just wanted to hear all the jokes!!

Factual Error: LA SWAT units would not have been using H&K G36 assault rifles during the late 80s since the design process for the weapon started in 1990(Wikipedia, retrieved 6-11-2018). ;)

My overall impression

I am a die-hard Die Hard fan, and this is the only good thing to happen to the IP after the initial movie. I suppose the second one is pretty good, but honestly, it’s a far cry from the first.

Anyway, this show is exactly as fun as you’d expect from the title and tagline. The cast keeps the energy insanely high, the jokes keep coming and they keep landing. The music is inspired, funny, and has really simple, tight choreography that keeps the story moving. Props are excellent and the full-size assault rifles do an efficient job of evoking the look and feel of the original movie. I always enjoy stage combat and the fight at the end was really, really fun.

My mom and I always watch this movie at Christmas along with Scrooged and Muppet’s Christmas Carol and we thought this production was aces all the way through.
