What I liked
The set! The ensemble! The songs! So pretty much everything. I was laughing non-stop! Also the writing was so well done…. The story had such drive, quick witty moments contrasted with big spectacles, like the musical numbers or the fight scenes. Just amazingness everywhere!
What I didn't like
Personally, it did feel a little long to me. Maybe because I had watched six shows that day already and it was a 11:30 P.M. show but I can’t seem to think of anything that should be cut so it’s probably just the circumstances I had when I watched the show. I also loved the zany qualities of the show but some moments felt a little too forced for me but perhaps that is just my taste of humor. The audience participation was fun but felt unnecessary to me. I think if the fourth wall break was established even sooner in the play then it wouldn’t feel as forced. But bravo to the cast for being on their feet and their improv skills!
My overall impression
What a fun and amazing show! The cast works so well together and the each person really stands out on their own as well. The references to Die Hard and to other pop culture Christmas novelties, stories, or songs is freaking incredible. Everything flowed so well and the use of the stage was amazing! I loved seeing different characters pop out from all the different places of the theater. The musical moments were timed perfectly and placed at the right parts of the narrative and no on ever missed a beat!
