What I liked
The simplicity of the structure of this play is perfect for Fringe and the writing is incredibly nuanced and heartfelt. The setting, staging, and choreography felt real – lived in. The actors had things to do, which is wonderful in a play so heavy in the dialogue.
What I didn't like
There isn’t much to say as far as improvement. If I had to nitpick, I would say I think the cast could dive in a little further… Dig into those moments and let the emotions take over. But as an ensemble they were pretty great.
My overall impression
This could not have been written better. The exploration of what it means to be a caretaker is summed up in a line by our female heroine toward the end of the play and it brought tears to my eyes. This play really examines the loss of love and questions our definition of “self” – what does it mean for someone to still be in a physical body, yet their personality (who they once “were”) has changed? I could see this show on Broadway. A must see.
