Very strong script dealing with difficult material. The playwright does not dance around the subject matter though. It is a roundhouse kick to the face. Very solid performances from all three actors. Excellent staging in a small, intimate space. I would love to see this extend to a full run at some point in the future.
What I didn't like
Very nit picky stuff because when a play is this good we can do that. The playwright has a great ear for dialogue but a couple exchanges felt a little on the nose and could use smoothing out. Not sure if that’s in the writing or delivery.
My overall impression
It’s so hard to wade through all of the hyperbole of “GREATEST SHOWIVEEVER SEEN” and “WHY ISNTTHIS ON BROADWAY?!!!” that always appear on these fringe reviews. I will say this; this is a tough show to watch content wise but you would be doing your art a great disservice by missing it. One of the top three shows I have seen at this year’s fringe.
