What I liked

The story-telling and portrayal of a difficult heart-wrenching mental illness is hard to convey. Both the writing and the actor did a tremendous job conveying not only Van Goh’s experience, but for caregivers and loved ones around him. There was great chemistry between the actors, and besides the Van Goh, I especially like the brother. There was a lot for him to navigate emotionally just as much as Van Goh. They all did a tremendous job.

What I didn't like

Sometimes the language was a bit jarring and felt a little out of place for that time period, but not too bad. The context was more important and helped to gloss over times when there were phrases that I don’t think would have been said back then.

My overall impression

A very engaging play, with an accurate portrayal of what an artist of Van Goh’s caliber would be like with bi-polar. Your attention was held fast and a wide range of emotions explored as you experienced what it was like to be in his shoes, as well as those effected by him.
