I didn’t know going in that it was live music and not backing tracks. Hooray! They nailed it! Props to the very clever hint at the techno future on the horizon that would eclipse hair metal. And my boy Jack played the heck out of that cowbell!! If you go see this – and you should – be sure to keep an eye on what Margaret and Jack are doing in their lawyer box while the band is playing. Nice, nice stuff there. Ditto the Judge.
What I didn't like
You have to be in the front two rows to see what the lead singer is doing every time he went down on the ground. There’s no way to fix that, tho.
The only misstep has to do with the bar and not the show. I felt sorry for the woman sitting next to me who had her tea light turned on for 1/2-hour, but the bartender never looked up from his phone to notice, so she never got her drink.
My overall impression
This delightful tribute to the era when hair metal and satanic panic were at their zenith has a killer cast (that can actually play their instruments and sing well) throwing down a script that manages to wink at nostalgia while being quite relevant to current issues. It was Super Fun! \m/
