The title suggests political discourse but this is actually a fascinating, funny and refreshing look into how we learn to negotiate, accept and love ourselves (all of them.) Thank god. Propelled by the desire to leave the country, this is a thoughtful, self-reflecting solo show whose structure allows us to take the journey with the main character, instead of being told what happened. A fascinating story only made possible by Lyralen's acting. She was a very entertaining and dynamic actor and knowing her actual history and experiences in life, her performance was all the more meaningful. While she shares a very disturbing and difficult past, Lyralen manges to depict a brave, determined woman who refuses to let the world take her down. ...
