Rob took what could’ve easily been a bitter childhood story and turned it into something almost whimsical, without making it grandiose or over-the-top. Even though his childhood was unconventional, he shows us the parts of it that are deeply rooted in any coming of age story (pain, love, disappointment), which makes you feel for him as the main character in his own life.
What I didn't like
I saw the preview show and there were many technical difficulties that Rob handled very well, but I hope the theater irons these out for the rest of the run. (I assume they will.)
My overall impression
Rob Bruner’s ease onstage makes him seem like you’ve known him forever. Even though his story is very unique, he has a friendly demeanor that makes him relatable and engages you to listen to what he has to say.
