Montana Cypress has created the on-stage equivalent of a short story, providing a powerful portrayal of a psychotically disturbed man living in the NY City subway with his memories and his 'family,' the rats. His rant centers around his lost hopes and dreams as a conductor of symphonies and opera, and his tender love affair with a young woman. The monologue captures the zig-zag thoughts of the truly mad as he talks to himself and tries to convince his audience of his former greatness. Wielding his pain and a hip flask of booze, the man reaches a crescendo of pain. Utterly believable and beautifully performed. ... full review
