What I liked
Everything! The direction is brilliant and clearly the work of a woman who knows what she wants and how to get her actors to deliver it. The writing is witty, satirical, and fun, and it’s a playful and contemporary take on a Greek myth. I loved that it was like “American Hustle” meets “Hair” meets Greek myth. The cast is so fantastic too — it’s hard to single one person out. Echo has a divine voice (Norah Jones-esque), and you feel so deeply for her and her circumstances despite only having 50 minutes with her. James Ferrero is simply groovy as blind prophet Tiresias. And Rishi and Alexa are appropriately powerful, amusing, evil, and entertaining — they navigate these shifts expertly.
What I didn't like
Nothing. This show is wonderful.
My overall impression
This show blew me away. The direction is crisp and has resulted in a throbbing, exhilarating, transcendent ensemble. They dance and move together as if they’ve been developing this musical for years rather than a few months. It feels much more polished than your average Fringe show. What’s really remarkable is that the entire cast works together so well as an ensemble, but when they get their solo moments they also excel — you end up loving every character because they’re so unique and compelling. The music is fantastic as well — catchy and fun, it does an excellent job of telling the story and the cast all have wonderful voices. I truly can’t imagine having a better experience at Fringe than seeing this show.
