What I liked

Here Comes Rutherford is the story of a man returning home and putting the memory of his parents to rest. This conceit is the simple framework through which the audience is treated to something unforgettable. I don’t have the words to fully express how moved I was by this play, but I’ll do my best.

Thomas Silcott’s writing is a work of art in itself. It’s a poem. A love letter. A confession. He writes with an intention and vulnerability that slices to the core. His words are magic.

And his performance. He is captivating as the returned son. He is mesmerizing as he takes the mantle of his parents. As I witnessed his transformation it became quite clear to me: Thomas Silcott is a master at his craft.

This is solo performance at its finest.

What I didn't like

I’m nitpicking here, but the projections didn’t add much to the experience. Truly, I didn’t want to take my eyes off the performer.

My overall impression

Here Comes Rutherford features powerful and expressive writing, and a mesmerizing performance you are not likely to forget. Thomas Silcott is simply stunning. Please, do yourself a favor and see this show.
