There are horrible things that happen in the world. Horrible things that could be happening right next door or thousands of miles away in another country. Some of us turn a blind eye to them because we don’t see it happening. “Toys” tries to change that with a performance piece about sex trafficking through a metaphor of children’s toys. Christina Evans performs this one woman show to express the pain, anguish, and distress that someone caught in the sex trade experiences. She does this in eerily creepy ways. Phenomenal, moving, thought provoking, frightening. Sooo good and it really hit me in an unexpected way. Grateful for work such as this that draws not just thoughtful attention to the topic of sex trafficking but a personal and emotional attention to it too. It forced me to really think about how my ignorance and complacency plays a part in allowing the slave trade to continue. We should all be brave enough to raise our voice and shine a light on this topic like this woman has with her work. Kudos.... full review
