What I liked

Go See It… Just Sayin’
By Brian Bielanski

In two words I would describe Just Sayin’, playing this month at the Hollywood Fringe Festival, as unconventionally brilliant. This production magically weaves together nine compelling stories of hurt, pain, joy, and gratitude. At first it may seem daunting keeping track of the story lines but stick with it. After about five minutes, I was invested in each story and following along was effortless.

There were no standout performances because they were all standout performances. This show does what every good production should do; it made me laugh and it made me cry. It’s next to impossible to not relate to at least one of these characters’ stories. If you’ve lived just a little bit of life you probably relate to several. If you aren’t “that girl” or “that guy”; you definitely know “that girl” or “that guy”. Some performances teeter between a gold or a silver but this was an easy choice. Just Sayin’ earns its gold medal.

Just Sayin’ is a production of the Foley Marra Project and the Lake Arrowhead Repertory Theater Company. It’s one of four productions the group is presenting at this year’s Fringe Festival.
