This show has managed to take almost every classic theatre convention in the book: Shadow/light box visuals, puppetry, scale, music, spectacle, dance, poetry -- and merge them into a really beautiful piece. Aristotle would be proud. Like torn chapters out of a book, we follow true origin stories of women from folklore who have been victimized, damned to eternity, wrongfully accused and overall, screwed over. These stories are narrated by an ensemble member while other the rest of the cast, through multiple mediums, act/dance/pantomime the visuals. This is a cast comprised completely of young women who share every duty on stage. There is no "lead" player; everyone is just as essential as the next. There is a small folk band with an ac... full review

This has been the most impressive show I’ve seen so far. This show takes a look at classic stories, through wonderful storytelling that uses visuals, singing, dance, and music from a live band, where a woman is blamed for doing something wrong. The amount of talent on that stage is second to none. I think there were around 12-15 people (including the band) and each one of them had their own highlights during the show. With that many people on a small stage, you might think there was some frantic chaos, but it was definitely the opposite. What you did see was wonderfully orchestrated choreography that will make you be in awe of the intricacies of people weaving. It’s a beautiful thing to see and experience. Angelic voices, radiant da... full review

Since Eve first ate the fruit from the tree of knowledge, women have been blamed for the ills of mankind. This is the first tale told in Blamed: An Established Fiction. This enchanting production combines live music, dance, shadow puppets and traditional storytelling to depict the tales of women throughout history, literature and mythology who have been victims and blamed for the chaos around them. With a premise like this, the show sounds like it could be horribly depressing - but it’s far from it. The ensemble of 13 women (plus 4 musicians) brings each story to vivid life and at the end of each tale, there is an acknowledgement and hug. As if this group is healing these wronged women from our collective past, reclaiming their stories ... full review
