In his laugh-out-loud hilarious Robert De Niro Is Older Than Me, Sy Rosen, a prolific and highly-respected television writer, producer, and series' creator, layers his work with an undercurrent of heart and poignancy, which ultimately makes the evening all the more satisfying. And though recounting, with great humor, specific episodes from his own life - all presented as self-contained "chapters", complete with flawless musical choices as lead-ins, visual aids, and two extraordinarily malleable and versatile co-stars, Deborah Geffner (who also directs the piece) and Robert Romanus, both of whom inhabit a multitude of characters in Sy's remembrances - the very specificity of the stories are skillfully rendered universal and relatable to all.... full review

This is a highly entertaining show that caught me off guard with its honesty, the breadth of its humor and its very relatable and human story. I loved all the performances and Sy’s irreverent and specific writing, really perfectly aligns with my own sensibilities. I too feel an evil thrill when watching people fall down. Thank you for making me feel ok about this and for reminding me to call my mother and tell her I love her.... full review

It is absolutely refreshing to see a show with such heart and soul, without artifice or devices to get around a lack of content. The aging process faces everyone, especially the baby boomer generation. Sy Rosen's honest portrayal of the process that's "not for sissies," hits all the notes with poignance, humor, frankness, compassion and yes, love. Love of life, husbanding, parenting, parents, and friends that will ring true to the heart of anyone who is brave enough to listen and have a little laugh at themselves.... full review

Sy is a talented and seasoned show business writer and he reminds us during this show. He has a lot to say and has cleverly and comically woven into chapters, his life, work and family stories. I was kept in stitches with his experiences, references and tales of getting older, becoming a senior and various other life situations. Deborah Geffner (also the director) and Robert Romanus sing and play additional characters, enhancing the show. Brought to the stage simply, it was thoroughly entertaining. Everyone in the audience was laughing; boomers, next genners, millennials, gen x! Good show ol’ chap!... full review
