What I liked
There’s so much predictability now, this play is anything but. Plenty of twists and turns, and nothing you could ever expect. How the actors portrayed their characters really allowed me to start thinking about crossing lines, and how everyone’s definitions vary, sometimes massively and how interesting the world is because of that.
What I didn't like
I really loved the dreamy interludes (you’ll just have to see what I’m talking about) and I think the story would have been just that much better had that almost alternate dimension had more affect on the characters.
My overall impression
The Fringe Festival is amazing because it allows for these kinds of underground plays to find a stage and come to life. If there’s a story somewhere it has a place here. Ryan Lisman always explores taboo topics in surprising ways. He’s bold and unapologetic in his writing and that’s very refreshing. This story is something I could never have imagined I would ever see on stage and THAT is something I enjoy. Actually being surprised by something. The actors are all fantastic, committed to their roles and unwavering.
