What I liked

I loved the different characters and her ability to differentiate them! I really liked the format of the show- the balance of darker subject matter (at times) with the lightness of her comedic voice worked very well. I enjoyed that we learned new information from the past as the play went on- the story was never predictable and always interesting. I felt very connected to what happened to Diana because of the vulnerability with which she told the story. She really “goes there” and it feels like a gift, because she took the audience along her journey. Her honesty about feelings people usually don’t talk about both informed and inspired me. This might be the best Fringe Festival show I’ve ever seen.

What I didn't like

No criticism!

My overall impression

“Shattered” is an authentic, vulnerable one woman show that couples a moving story with a fresh delivery. Varco physicalizes her inner feelings- shame, love, fear, and many more- through the use of distinct and hilarious characterizations. Being able to see her emotions in this way really connected the audience to her experience, and kept me engaged. Varco’s acting talent is undeniable, and the story she tells is one worth telling.
