Mary's Medicine

What I liked

I like unusual or forgotten history so this was right up my alley.

What I didn't like

I’m not entirely sold on the framing device. The hour running time might be better spent focusing exclusively on Mary. I understand the reasoning behind the frame – to connect the dots to contemporary society – but I don’t think it’s necessary, especially for a short play.

My overall impression

Solid writing with a very strong lead brings a most interesting slice of history to life.
