Trixie’s arc is so perfectly structured. The musical numbers are wild and hilarious – literally, EVERYSINGLELINE is funny but like REALLY funny. “Older Woman…. Teach me how to do my taxes…” It’s — just: SO GOOD!!! I can’t stop singing the songs to myself!
What I didn't like
The musical does a beautiful job of holding two tones — dark and comedic — hand in hand. I wonder if the dark parts could include slightly more comedy, but honestly, that’s a tiny detail. It’s…. just honestly a feat to make something this good.
My overall impression
I was honestly blown away. This musical was - not only personal, intense, beautiful, surprising, but also HILARIOUS. I laughed as loud as I did when I first saw Buster Keaton’s The General, one of the greatest movies ever made. It hits on a cultural conversation about mental illness that is desperately needed and also empowers us all to go to deep places in ourselves. The Depression-Anxiety duet was the most hilarious weird thing I’ve ever seen!
