What I liked

The idea to do a musical about mental illness is awesome. But it just felt like this musical was done by someone who only has a cursory knowledge of what it means to be mentally ill.

What I didn't like

I feel like the writers need to dig deeper and write from a place of truth rather than a what seems like a place of humor.

My overall impression

My overall impression of this show was a valiant effort to confront the issues of mental illness;however, it comes off as a rather tone deaf redundant musical that is slightly offensive and devoid of any true depth. Trixie was a fun character however watching an entire musical about her was slightly painful. She is better suited to a sketch or maybe short webisodes. The ensemble were fine singers but the songs all sounded very similar and never really reached a place where they seemed resolved. Some of the lines gave me a chuckle but over all the humor was cliched and overplayed.
