About the Project

A.k.a. THE AYANA HAMPTON SHOW, as adored in the 2009 NOW Festival of downtown Los Angeles’ eclectic epicenter of innovation, REDCAT, returns to audiences after a crucial purge.

THE MORNING AFTER is serving you a sing-along-libido in a cabaret so gay Ru Paul couldn’t think straight. The Morning After Band/The Lustrous Black Up Dancers, prompt adverse reactions to bohemia in the style of the Divine Miss M. This hilarious self-minstrelsy features new impressions of First Lady Michelle Obama, Tim Gunn and the narrative of a nymphomanic’s battle against anonymity, free-clinics, and a fictitious African American woe, Acute Diana Ross Disorder. Cherish gems, “Straight Girl in the Corner”, “Never Get a Ponytail”, “B.Y.O.B.G.Y.N.” plus riotous glory from composers Brian Barrale, Mark Mendelson, with Miss Ayana Hampton as your headliner. Experience the pleasure before the New York tour.

This performance/variable media art work was made possible, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council. Major support of the Franklin Furnace Fund was provided in 2010-11 by the Lambent Foundation Fund of Tides Foundation.
