It starts off simply with playful banter, poetry and distanced observation. I think I’m going to get artifice from a young writer and then it starts getting deeper, more vulnerable, layered and honest beyond its years. It tricked me. The acting is solid. The inspired direction takes all those awkward black box, scene change blackouts and turns them into fully lit, fluid stages of character development. The writing is ambitious and assured. The first millennial piece I’ve seen that isn’t just skin deep.
What I didn't like
My overall impression
Go see this show, if you can get in. The acting and direction are legit. The writing, so generous and human. It snuck in through the cracks and found its way into my heart. I keep thinking about it.
