What I liked

Christian Geo in his masterfully written and embodied ‘House of Me’ may just have ushered in a new form of theatre. I grew up on the likes of La Mama, Worster Group, Joe Goode Dancers and SITI Company, and this piece surpasses even some of their work. His technical skills are a given, but add to these his natural sense of physical humor, his unhinged imagination and mega writing skills, and one is witness to something like a force of nature. Anne Bogart, a great director, theatre writer and teacher says that if you are leaning forward, fearing to be tipped over, then the work has engaged you, the work has done what it is supposed to do, changed you forever, leaving you in a far different place than when you walked in and sat back. Christian transformed the small, lackluster black box by his words, dancing, verbal exhortations to the audience, and fascinating personal stories, never fearing to bring up deep feelings as well as point to larger spiritual truths. That is no small feat in our current world of dumbing down ideas and language. I wanted to hear more stories and see more magic. There are auteurs of the cinema, so hopefully we see more of this auteur of the stage. C.E. Jordan, theatre artist, poet, and designer

What I didn't like

I liked it all.

My overall impression

I was stunned and overjoyed to see a real theatre artist employing his considerable skills to raise the level of local theatre up to match the best I have been privileged to see from around the world. Bravo Christian!!
