Full Frontal Music

This is s very smart show! When listening to the songs, I found myself swirling around the compositions as I were tasting a nice red wine. I found the influences of everyone from Lyle Lovett to Elvis Costello paired with rich aromas of Elton John and a strong Billy Joel finish. These are not easy flavors to emulate! While Schneider's personal story is bittersweet; he and his wife have stopped performing the very act that gifted them with the daughters he loves so deeply, his charm and ability to skewer his own predicament make for a very entertaining hour of cabaret-style theater. ... full review

James’ songs have some surprisingly nice melodies coupled with clever lyrics. He was clearly influenced by Elvis Costello, Billy Joel and the rarely emulated Joe Jackson! Luckily he’s got a good voice and doesn’t phone in a performance. His material is very relatable and I’d recommend catching the show before the festival ends. ... full review

At first I thought I would have no interest in this show- I suppose I just glossed over anything “sexy” when I was looking for shows to see- but I was working the venue and it just so happened to drop into my lap. I saw Full Frontal Music on Father's Day - very timely for this one-man show about the ups and downs of being a husband and father. James Schneider's charismatic stage presence and meaningful lyrics not only took me through a range of emotions, but also gave my boyfriend and I lots to talk about afterwards! James is definitely a talented individual - put me on the list to see all his future shows!... full review

Going into the show, I had high hopes. As a music lover, any performance centered around music had to be great - right? Unfortunately, in this case, not completely. The premise of the play - middle-aged father coming to grips with his marriage and his kids and trying to regain his "guyness" sounded great. Unfortunately Schneider didn't quite pull it off. The songs themselves were enjoyable, but the second half of the show was not as strong as the first half, and left me feeling "unfulfilled."... full review
