The show was a story of acceptance, serenity and healing. It was a story of the complex interpersonal relationships of a family and the difficulties of understanding that everyone has a different measuring stick. Once we realize that things that happen TO us are very rarely about us. They are usually because of the misunderstandings people have in interpreting one another's intentions. ...

Thome’s writing is clear-eyed, wryly humorous, and filled with specific details and color from her Michigan upbringing. But the story is universal and will resonate with audiences blessed with less prickly mothers than Imelda.
