I encourage parents and educators to take advantage of this incredible resource that is equal parts entertaining and informative. In under 40 minutes, the audience is welcomed into the very relatable world of a young girl and her family who once lived near the Chornobyl nuclear power plant. Utilizing simple metaphors, song, and language that is always clear and never condescending, complex issues such as radiation poisoning and nuclear power are defined, replacing fear with knowledge and imparting a message that is as reaffirming as it is timely. ... full review

Glad I got out to see this very relevant play about the tragedy at Chornobyl. Great structure, well-acted and good use of the audience to start it all off. My only complaint is I wanted more but that came in the form of a great Q&A afterwards as well.... full review

This show is exactly what educational children's theatre should be. It is always a dialogue and never a lecture. Katya is the audience's window into the story and her charming curiosity encourages the audience to wonder and question as well. I was amazed and impressed with how the playwright, cast, and director managed to tell the story of a horrible disaster in such a simple, open, and personal way. Given the content, this production could have easily swayed into the territory of scare tactics and horror stories, but I appreciated the tenderness and love with which it was handled because it left me curious as opposed to terrified. Curiosity inspires much more constructive action than fear. ... full review

This show is poignant and powerful. The magic comes especially when you see the children engaging in the questions afterwards. Imagine getting an 9 year old child to engage in a discussion about our government's role in protecting us or nuclear power plant development! Bring your kids and GO see this show!... full review

The task of writing a show for children about the Chernobyl tragedy must be daunting but you wouldn’t know it from this lovely production. Cindy Marie Jenkins’ deft writing bridges the gap between an educational presentation and an interactive children’s show that is as funny as it is serious. The particular preview that I had the pleasure to see had an adoring adult audience, but Voices From Chernobyl Jr is tailor made for children eight years and up. I highly recommend this show for parents and children alike. It is equal parts entertaining and important. ... full review
