What I liked

A smart script, expert choreography and dancing, and melodic tunes by an extremely talented cast. From the opening production number to the very end the story and performance is tight, well-developed, funny, and excellent in every way. This production also has broad appeal and should have an extended life in another theatre for a good run. It is that good!

What I didn't like

There were sound problems at the performance I attended, which are all easily fixable. UPDATE: I returned for closing night and the sound was all fixed and fantastic! Everyone can really sing their hearts out and beautifully!

My overall impression

Oh Ruby…What a sparkling gem! 1973 and no longer in Kansas, a Fairy Godmother and dancers guide Ruby on her retro journey with smart sensual choreography that sizzles, and dazzling songs by a dynamite cast (and projections and puppets that rival AVENUE Q). But like life it is not the destination but the journey that inspires, and in the end the answers can be … (go to find out). And a pair of Ruby red shoes always helps! GO!
