Ruby's got a problem--her boyfriend, Tommy, wants to sleep with her and she's just not feeling it. What to do? Have her fairy godmother send her back to the 1970's. of course! And with that, this VERY FUN, hip and sexy musical is off and running. I came to see this show because the general idea of the plot was intriguing. And I wasn't disappointed--it's exactly as goofy, strange and joyous as I wanted it to be. It happens because it does, the explanations are only as necessary as they need to be and it's all for fun. And in a show like this--that's all you need. Because the joy in this type of show comes from the music, the performances, the dancing and the humor. And Ruby hits on all fronts. Great story line, great humor, outstanding performances by the cast and dancers, fun costumes and there were even puppets! Saudia Yasmein steals the show as Glendale the fairy God Mother! She was fierce! Christopher Robert Smith delivers funny performances of an array of characters. Christina Rose is perfectly cast as the lead role of Ruby! Tap your red heels together and JUST see it! You will thank me! It is HILARIOUS!!!!!I am a huge fan of Scott's last 2 productions. Xtacy and Sin. But Ruby, blew me away!!! It had so much humor and heart, that I felt I wanted more. The music was exceptional. The story was fun, provocative, and told in a clear, but insanely entertaining way. I was laughing from the beginning to the end. I mean hard, genuine belly laughs. I'd love to say more about specifics that made me howl, but that would be a spoiler alert. The acting was top notch. Ruby was gorgeous and so believable, and overall FUNNY! as were ALL the rest of the cast members! If you are looking for a fun NIGHT OUT, YOU ARE IN FOR A REAL TREAT! Go see Ruby.
