A very brave, poignant, and relevant show, and sends Hollywood Fringe Festival out of the gates with balls-a-blazin. Where did they find that Panama Red? I have never seen anyone look like that, such a work of art. Such a rare and beautiful find. ...

This awesomely dedicated and diverse cast serves up a series of vignettes on all those cringe-worthy topics we are afraid to address. The acts are clever and charming with the right amount of edge to get you thinking. You will laugh, you'll be surprised, and their timely political ending will give you chills for days. ...

The Wrong Show is part theater and part burlesque show. It alternates between skits, songs, and dance numbers that address some extremely relevant and uncomfortable topics with humor and thoughtfulness. Between each act, a glamorous showgirl holds up a card telling us which thing that we don't want to talk about is about to take the stage. It's a must-see purely for the walk-in vagina (4 out of 5 Male Doctors Agree), the Freaky Friday Race Card skit, the Three Piece Fat Suit and the Fascist Follies. Yes, I know it's uncomfortable. But it's uncomfortable in a good way....

Delightfully, deliciously wrong. Smart, crass, and wonderful. You'll have a great time even though your soul may feel a little crispy for laughing....

Good stuff. Burlesque done gritty and in your face, with a side of "yeah, boobies and music and glamour too". Socially conscious? Well, maybe more socially exasperated. But in the "we're gonna laugh instead of cry" sort of vein.
Don't show up expecting delicate flowers as performers. If I met these glamour gods and goddesses in a dark alley, I'd definitely want them on my side, if only for the wit and wildness. They're talented, they're gorgeous, and they'll punch you in the face with their point. And you'll like it.
Just like I like it....

Why Haven't You Bought a Ticket? ·
Are You Afraid?
I have spent a long time in Los Angeles looking for great burlesque. There are many troupes and teams in the city and area that claim to be great--and my hopes are nearly always dashed. So when I met Lemi Atom at one of the Fringe meetups and was told that this particular show was going to be different, I came with pretty diminished expectations.
I left surprisingly impressed with a show that managed to be both brave, inspired and in several cases STELLAR burlesque. Some of the numbers were okay, in my opinion, but there are four or five of them that are really, really damn good. And in any evening of burlesque, if you have that many that you can walk away really happy with--that's a DAMN GOOD NIGHT of burlesque.
I want to specifically...
