What I liked

The ensemble performances were great, each of the actors brought something unique to the piece and managed to carry the entry from start to finish. The writing also offered some fantastic moments of insight into each of their journeys and the actors managed to make the shift seamlessly from the highly hammed up ‘stage persona’ they were portraying in the show within the show to the more natural, honest and grounded moments behind the scenes.

What I didn't like

The show, on a whole, was an interesting insight into the going ons behind the scenes of a monster hunt series. It’s one downfall was the length of the show… It jumped between the onscreen personas into the backstage personas too quickly and I’d have loved to have been thrown around a little more between the two. As it is- once we begin getting to know the characters behind the seen, the monster hunt as a hammed up freak show is left by the wayside and the energy gets a little heavy. The energy never dropped but the entire mood did become quite somber quite quickly.

My overall impression

Being a 40min Fringe show – I can definitely see the potential in the growth of this piece into a full length performance.
Incredible work by the actors in being able to shift and grateful for their honesty in those heavier scenes.
